I have been a fan of magazines since I was a teenager and my interest for studying media concepts was encouraged by Magazine studies in Aalto ARTS, led by professor Maija Töyry in 2012-2013. I have studied communication as my major in the University of Helsinki and completed a Master’s degree in Media and Global Communication. In my Master’s thesis (2014) I studied the reading of lifestyle blogs and women’s magazines. In my study I discovered that magazines and blogs construct their relationship with the reader in very different ways and as such their concepts are essentially different.
My interest for women’s magazines stems from my professional experience as a journalist for Finnish women’s magazines and my interest for blogs has been encouraged by different digital media projects such as website redesign and blog concept design for Kaksplus magazine in 2012-2013 and coorditaing Blog or Die – Blogs as Media Concepts course in Aalto ARTS in 2013.
In MCRG I have worked as a project assistant for Personal Media Day project and currently I work as a project researcher for TOIMI project. In TOIMI I study the development of media organisations and to search for tools to overcome the challenges that media organizations are currently faced with. My focus in the project is particularly on digital media concepts and social media strategies.
My interests are:
- Digital media concepts
- Social media and blogs
- New journalistic media concepts
- Reader relationships and media engagement
- Content marketing
