MA (Finnish language), doctoral candidate at Helsinki University.
My interest in quotations began some ten years ago when I started both studying Finnish Language at the University of Helsinki and working as a journalist.
During these years, I have got more familiar with the complexity of the quoting process in practice and I have striven for explanations and order for that phenomenon in the academic field. I have also lectured, among other subjects, on quoting, for example at Aalto University.
My Ph.D. dissertation concerns the process of making quotations. Firstly, in which way the spoken interview is edited into written quotations, and secondly, what affects that process? The approach is multidisciplinary, combining linguistics, journalism and communication studies.
